Spotted Lake is a saline endorheic alkali lake located northwest of Osoyoos in the eastern Similkameen Valley of British Columbia, Canada, accessed via Highway 3

Originally known to the First Nations of the Okanagan Valley as Kliluk , Spotted Lake was for centuries and remains revered as a sacred site thought to provide therapeutic waters. During World War I, the minerals of Spotted Lake were used in manufacturing ammunition.

Today, there is a roadside sign telling visitors that the lake is a cultural and ecologically sensitive area, and a traditional medicine lake for the Okanagan Syilx people. The lake can be viewed from the fence that has been erected for protection from the liabilities of public access. Many travelers stop to view the site.

Mineral and salt concentration

Spotted Lake is richly concentrated with various minerals. It contains dense deposits of magnesium sulfate, calcium and sodium sulphates. It also contains high concentrations of eight other minerals and lower amounts of silver and titanium.

Most of the water in the lake evaporates over the summer, revealing colorful mineral deposits. Large 'spots' on the lake appear and are colored according to the mineral composition and seasonal amount of precipitation. Magnesium sulfate, which crystallizes in the summer, is a major contributor to spot color. In the summer, remaining minerals in the lake harden to form natural “walkways” around and between the spots. [source]

The museum houses over 13,000 spaceflight artifacts—the largest combined collection of US and Russian spaceflight artifacts in the world—and is home to internationally acclaimed educational programs.

The Cosmosphere has four venues: The Hall of Space Museum, The Justice Planetarium, The Carey Digital Dome Theater, and Dr. Goddard's Lab (an explosive live science presentation on the history of rocketry). Welcome to Cave Creek Regional Park. The park, which is located north of Phoenix, became part of Maricopa County's regional park system in 1963.

This 2,922-acre park sits in the upper Sonoran Desert and ranges in elevation from 2,000 feet to 3,060 feet. This desert oasis provides any hiker and equestrian majestic views. The Go John Trail loops around a mountain to provide the illusion of being miles away from civilization. In the 1870s, fever stricken gold seekers staked their dreams on the jasper-studded hills. Guided trails to these sites give visitors an opportunity to travel back in time.

With camping sites available at almost every park, the Maricopa County park system is home to thousands of visitors every year. Visitors come with their recreation vehicles (RV) from all over the country to stay at a Maricopa County park. Located between Spring Hill and Paola, about 3 miles east of US-169/K-7and 255th St interchange

Conveniently located south of the Kansas City Metro Area, one of Kansas’ newest reservoirs awaits visitors to its more than 12,000 acres of park and wildlife area. Completed in 1982, more than 70 percent of the standing timber was left in the reservoir basin to provide fish habitat. Walleye, catfish, largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill are abundant. Approximately 4,500 acres of water and 51 miles of shoreline are open to fishing. Roughly 7,000 acres are open to hunting at Hillsdale within the wildlife area and state park.

Common wildlife includes whitetail deer, bobwhite quail, squirrel, rabbit, beaver, muskrat, and a variety of waterfowl. Birdwatchers will see bald eagles, shorebirds, finches, warblers, sparrows, and hawks.

The Saddle Ridge equestrian area on the east side of the reservoir has about 32 miles of marked trails available to horseback riders.

Our campsites can be found along the Rio Costilla River and there is approximately 3 miles of additional campsites past the main Park entrance (Visitor Center location) along the existing streams (Latir, Lemos and Midnight) as well as designated sites around Little Blue Lake and Latir Lake #3. Since 1987 we have been a family owned and operated campground. We are located in the capital city of Frankfort, Kentucky on the banks of the Elkhorn Creek.

The park is open from April 1st thru October 31st each year. Limited camping sites are available during the winter months. There are 125 sites in the park of which 109 are paved. Sixty-one sites have full hookup, including cable TV. Extra long pull thru sites are available for big rigs and campers that are towing.

We are a family oriented campground with amenities to meet each family member's needs. Everyone can cool off at the pool, or perhaps enjoy a quick game of putt-putt. The campground also has horseshoes, volleyball, and basketball courts available for the young and old. Children can enjoy the large playground including swings, slides and other equipment located near the general store. Hand-dipped ice cream is always a treat after a day of fun in the sun. Dinner can be a quick "catch" from the Elkhorn Creek with a relaxing game of shuffleboard as the sun sets.

Located on Vale Island in Hay River, (follow signs, it’s about 10 km/6 miles past the towns Visit Information Centre) this park offers fantastic swimming on the sandy shores of Great Slave Lake, unique viewing of barges and fishing vessels plying the waters and great opportunities to fish for northern pike.

There are 10 brand new campsites and a brand new shower building available at Hay River Territorial Park. The new campsites are available for immediate booking on www.nwtparks.ca and are listed as C8 - C18.

There is also a 10 site, powered, Group Camping Area located at the Hay River Territorial Park Beach, to book email Parks@gov.nt.ca.
